SHERBROOKE, Que. - A trio of McGill lacrosse players netted hat tricks as the Redmen spoiled start of the Bishop's Gaiters homecoming weekend by a final of 13-7 on Thursday night on Coulter Field in CUFLA East action.
The Redmen improved their record to 6-0 with the victory, thanks to hat tricks by Maxime Murdoch, Andrew Chase and Patrick Turner. They never trailed in the game and scored six unanswered goals after Bishop's tied the game at 5-5 in the second quarter. A late tally gave the Redmen a 6-5 halftime lead then a 5-0 third quarter all but put the game out of reach.
For the Gaiters,
Mathew Paterson (Pointe Claire, Que./John Abott College) tallied a hat trick of his own.
Gabriel Chamberlain (Roberts Creek, B.C./Elphinstone Secondary),
Xavier Perron (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain College Lennoxville),
Joel Wright (Newmarket, Ont./Sir William Mulock S.S.) and
Thomas Bakeeff (Dartmouth, N.S./The Gunnery School) each found the back of the net for the Gaiters as well. The loss drops Bishop's to 3-4 and leaves them in fourth place in the CUFLA East.

Bishop's next regular season game is a rematch against the Redmen in Montreal, on Oct. 13 at 7 p.m. They will play a pair of exhibition contests in the U.S. over Thanksgiving weekend.
