Gaiters host Rouge et Or, face Sherbrooke on the Road

SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team will hope that home cooking will be the key to getting into the win column this weekend. On Friday they host the No.4 Laval Rouge et Or on Coulter Field. Kickoff is set for 8:30 p.m. It is the third game in the annual Homecoming Friday tripleheader. On Monday night the Gaiters make the short jaunt to face the Sherbrooke Vert et Or at 7 p.m. in RSEQ University action.

YTD
As the Gaiters enter the second half of the season, they hold a 0-6-1 record and sit in the basement of the division.

Bishop's hosts Laval, the fourth-ranked team in the nation on Friday night. Laval got the best of the Gaiters earlier this year, winning 3-0.  Joelle Gosselin had a hat trick for Laval in that one.

On Monday, Bishop's drives 10 kilometers up Autoroute 410 to play Sherbrooke at 7 p.m. The two squads played to a scoreless draw on Coulter Field on Sept. 14. Mehana Heins (Ottawa, Ont./Merivale S.S.) recorded the shutout for the Gaiters in that contest.

Coach's Corner
"I'm excited about Friday's game," said Paul Ballard, Gaiters' head coach. "Our first game with Laval was our introduction to how good the RSEQ actually is. There were some things in that game that I'm sure our girls would love to have back.  This is a chance for us to find that energy in front of a homecoming crowd. Laval might not be as lethal as they were last season, but we will respect them and know this will be one of the hardest games of our season.

"Sherbrooke is always a great rivalry game.  Their season has not gone as planned for them so we know they will see this as a big game.  For us it is an opportunity to prove we are continuing to move in the right step."
