LENNOXVILLE, Que. -
Maude Archambault (St-Augustine-de-Desmaures, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) scored a regular season career-high 24 points in a losing cause for the Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team on Saturday night. The No. 2 Concordia Stingers beat the Gaiters for the second time in three nights, this time 75-57 in Mitchell Gym.
Caroline Task led all scorers with 25 points that included five three-pointers. Coralie Dumont tallied a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Ladonna Lamont's grabbed 14 boards in the win.
For Bishop's
Marie Berrouette (Montreal, Que./Dawson College) chipped in with 12 points and 14 rebounds including seven at the offensive end.
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) scored 10 in her first regular season game in Mitchell Gym.
Archambault's 24 came on a 7-20 shooting performance; she was 4-12 from behind the arc. Two of the three-pointers came on consecutive possessions with 7:55 remaining in the fourth frame. That cut the Stingers lead to eight points and erupted the Mitchell Gym crowd. The nation's second-ranked team quickly silenced them as they finished the game on a 21-9 run for the 75-57 victory.
Both teams only played seven players with Bishop's
Jayne-Laure Dumerjean (Montreal, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) only playing one minute. Berrouette, Task and Dumont all played the entire 40 minutes.
Next up Bishop's (1-6) plays a crucial home-and-home series with the UQAM Citadins (0-7). They tip-off Thursday in Montreal and Saturday in Lennoxville. Both games start at 6 p.m.
