MONTREAL – The Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team fell 87-86 to the UQAM Citadins in the final seconds of Thursday's match-up in Montreal.
It was a battle for baskets all night. The Gaiters had their largest lead of the game with 6:24 to play in the fourth frame but UQAM quickly diminished that lead. With 16 seconds remaining in the game, and the Gaiters up by two, UQAM's Alix Lochard went in for the layup and got the 'and one', to tie the game and eventually take the lead. Bishop's missed their final shot and that was it, the Citadins won 87-86.
Kevin Davis (Baltimore, MD/Digital Harbor H.S.) led the Gaiters with 22 points and six rebounds.
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) had a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds and
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) put up 15 points.
UQAM's Lochard led all scorers with 28 points and Ibrahima Sylla followed with 26 points of his own.
Bishop's turned the ball over 25 times for 30 points compared to seven turnovers by the Citadins for eight Gaiter points.
