Women’s Basketball in Quebec City to face Toronto and UPEI in Pre-Season Action

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – After a break over Thanksgiving weekend, the Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team is back in action on Thursday and Friday when they make the familiar trip up Autoroutes 55 and 20 to Quebec City for the Rouge et Or Invitational basketball tournament.
 
They face the University of Toronto Varsity Blues on Thursday and the UPEI Panthers on Friday at PEPS.
 
Thursday, Oct. 17 vs University of Toronto
6 p.m.

Bishop's is 3-1 against U SPORTS competition (4-1 overall) this year. Two of those wins came against U of T in a pair of preseason contests in Toronto.

The Gaiters also split a pair of games in Ottawa; they beat Thompson Rivers then lost a heartbreaker to host Carleton in overtime.
 
Toronto is 2-3.  They opened the pre-season with the pair of losses to the Gaiters and then fell to Memorial before winning games against Victoria and StFX.
 
The Varsity Blues were 6-17 in the OUA East last season and 11-20 overall. They missed the playoffs.
 
All-time Bishop's is 2-13 against U of T.
 
Friday, Oct. 18 vs UPEI
2 p.m.
PEPS
Quebec City, Que.
 
The Gaiters are 5-4 all-time against the UPEI Panthers, most recently a 62-58 loss in Charlottetown in October 2015.
 
UPEI is 2-2 against U SPORTS teams this year. They opened with wins over Lethbridge and Waterloo then dropped their next two against Ottawa and Cape Breton.
 
The Panthers ended last year second in the AUS with a 17-3 record. They were upset by eventual champion Acadia the conference semifinal.
