Scott, a fourth-year education student, earns the award for the second consecutive year. She scored six tries including two in the Gaiters first win since 2009, a 24-20 victory at McGill on Sept. 15. Scott was one of the most effective ball carriers for the Gaiters with 64 carries and 20 line breaks over the season. She was also a force on defense throughout the year with a team high 43 tackles as well as 14 turnovers. For her efforts, she was twice named game MVP.

Shufelt, a rookie studying biological science, played in five of the six Gaiters' games. The prop was a strong ball carrier and support player on attack with 34 carries over the course of the season combined with 50 rucks where she was the primary clearer. Furthermore, she played a key role in the Gaiters victory over McGill with two big line breaks in the game. Shufelt was also a stalwart pillar in the front row solidifying the scrum throughout the year.

The Gaiters head to Montreal to face the Carabins in the RSEQ University consolation semifinal on Sunday at 2 p.m.
