Gaiters look to play spoiler against Table Toppers

LENNOXVILLE, Que. – It is the last weekend of RSEQ University women's soccer for the Bishop's Gaiters in their most successful campaign in 15 years. Bishop's has four wins and will be challenged for two more as they host No.9 UQAM on Friday and play at No.4 Montreal on Sunday to close out the year.
 
RSEQ Standings
 
At 4-6-2, Bishop's sits in fifth place in the RSEQ and on the outside of the playoffs looking in. They trail McGill by eight points and with two games remaining do not have a chance to make up the difference. They can however shake things up at the top of the table.
 
UQAM sits in first leads second place Montreal by three points with two games remaining.
 
Friday, Oct. 19 vs. No.9 UQAM (10-1-1)

Friday will be seniors' night at Coulter Field and the Gaiters will honour four graduating players, Lindsay Moore (Lennoxville, Que./Champlain College Lennoxville), Mehana Heins (Ottawa, Ont./Merivale S.S.), Danielle Desrochers (North Vancouver, B.C./Handsworth S.S.) and Cristina Tavares (Kingston, Ont./Regiopolis-Notre Dame C.H.S.) prior to kickoff. 
 
Earlier this year UQAM topped the Gaiters 3-0 at Stade Saputo in Montreal. Roseline Eloissant scored twice for the Carabins.  Salma Flores-Desrochers (Victoriaville, Que./Champlain College- Lennoxville) was named game MVP for Bishop's.
 
Bishop's is 2-10-1 against UQAM since 2013; their most recent result came in 2017, a 1-1 draw.

Sunday, Oct. 21 at No. 5 Montreal (9-2-1)

Sunday is the last day of regular season action in the RSEQ and Bishop's will be in Montreal. The Carabins can finish as high as first place and as low as third depending on how the weekend action plays out. They are at Concordia (2-7-3) on Friday night.
 
In their only other meeting this year, Montreal snuck by the Gaiters 2-0 on Coulter Field. Two late goals proved to be the differences as the Gaiters held the reigning RSEQ champions in check through 67 minutes.
 
Heins was named game MVP for Bishop's as she made nine saves.
 
The Gaiters are 0-13-0 against Montreal since 2013.
