OTTAWA –
Xavier Perron (Sherbrooke, Que./) and
Sam Firth (Ottawa, Ont./Nepean H.S.) both tallied three goals and an assist on Saturday as the Bishop's Gaiters ran past the Ottawa Gee-Gees 16-3 in Ottawa in the penultimate weekend of CUFLA East regular season action. The Gaiters backed that up with a 14-5 victory over Carleton on Sunday.
Saturday's win over Ottawa, ensured the Gaiters a spot in the post-season. Their final placing and CUFLA East playoff match-up is still to be determined.
It was a close game through 15 minutes, tied 3-3 before the Gaiters' offense exploded and defense shut down the hosts. It was 7-3 at the half, 12-3 after three quarters and a 16-3 final.
Ian Connors (Hammonds Plains, N.S./Charles P. Allen H.S.) got the win in net.
On Sunday, Bishop's scored early and often an parlayed that into 14-5 win over Carleton. It was 2-0 early, 8-1 at the half.
Perron added four more goals and a pair of assists on Sunday in the win.
The two wins leave Bishop's at 4-5 in the CUFLA East standings with one game remaining against Queen's (3-5). That game will mark seniors' day on Coulter Field on Sunday, Oct. 27 at 3:30 p.m.
