MONTREAL –
Marceau Bertin (Royan, France/Raffles World Academy (Dubai)) and
Riley Jones (St-Lazare, Que./Westwood HS) scored tries while
Tyler Murphy (Bromont, Que./Massey Vanier H.S.) added a conversion and a penalty to finish second in the RSEQ University Men's Rugby scoring race, but the Bishop's Gaiters lost 31-15 to Concordia on Sunday afternoon in Montreal.
The loss ends the Gaiters 2019 season at 2-4-0 and they miss playoffs while Concordia finishes the year at a perfect 6-0-0 and in first place. The Stingers will host Montreal in an RSEQ semifinal.
Murphy solidified himself as one of the top players in the conference as he added five more points to give him 62 on the year (6 tries, 13 conversion and 2 penalties). That left him in second place in the RSEQ scoring race. Concordia's Aidan Mcmullan led the way with 69 points. Murphy was also named game MVP on three occasions.
On Sunday
Matthew Shufelt (Brigham, Que./Massey-Vanier HS) was the Gaiters MVP and Jerome Levesque earned the nomination for Concordia.
