LENNOXVILLE, Que. – For the first time in 10 years the Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team will step onto the hardwood nationally ranked. They are No.8 in the U SPORTS top-10. Their 2019-20 RSEQ University season gets underway on Thursday at Concordia at 6 p.m. The Gaiters play their second game in three nights on Saturday when they host UQAM at 6 p.m. in Mitchell Gym.
Bishop's
In the pre-season, Bishop's posted a 6-2 record (5-1 vs U SPORTS). Their lone Canadian blemish came at the hands of No.6 Carleton in overtime.
The Gaiters are led by 2018-19 U SPORTS all-Rookie team member
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield). The point guard has been dominant this pre-season. She's scored in double figures in all eight games. That includes 32 at Toronto and 30 at Carleton.
The young Gaiters also added a number for talented rookies highlighted by FAEQ bursary recipients

The Stingers opened last week with a 77-71 win over UQAM. Concordia was led by 2019 U SPORTS Rookie of the Year Myriam Leclerc. She scored 28 points while Caroline Task and Nikita Telesford added 18 and 16 points respectively.
Concordia swept the four games in the foes played last year and are 20-4 against Bishop's since 2013. The Gaiters went 3-1 in 2017-18.

UQAM lost at Concordia last Saturday. Four Citadins scored in double figures in the loss, led by Inga Aleksaite's double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Renaldo Maignan is the new head coach for UQAM. He is in his first-year at the helm of the program.
The Gaiters are 4-20 against UQAM since 2013, however they are 3-2 in the last five meetings. The home team won all four games in the four game series last year.
Next Up
After the pair of games this week, Bishop's has two more next week. Thursday, Nov. 21 they host McGill and Sunday, Nov. 24 they travel to No.10 Laval.
