LENNOXVILLE, Que – McGill used 25 fourth quarter points to spring past the Bishop's Gaiters 81-74 on Thursday night in Lennoxville. The RSEQ University men's basketball game was the last in Mitchell Gym for the first semester.
Jamal Mayali scored 31 points in the win as McGill improves to 2-1 in the young RSEQ season. Antoney Bell tallied a "double-double" with 18 points and 11 rebounds off the bench to round out the McGill scorers in double figures.
Five Gaiters reached double digits for Bishop's led by
Nervens Demosthene (Terrebonne, Que./Cegep de Montmorency) and
Ibrahim Ngom (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) who each had 15 points. Joany Castor-Thadal and
Jordan Thornhill (Montreal, Que./John Abbott College) scored 13 and
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) added 10.
BISHOP'S HIGHLIGHTS
McGill shot 62.5 percent from the floor in the fourth quarter to turn a 61-56 deficit into an 81-74 victory. Bishop's shot just 29.4 percent during that same time.
The Gaiters fall to 1-2 in the RSEQ standings. They travel to Laval to face the 0-3 Rouge et Or on Sunday at 3 p.m.
