LENNOXVILLE, Que. – It is simple. Win and you are in, lose, your season is finished.  That is what faces the Bishop's Gaiters and UQAM Citadins women's basketball teams on Saturday in Montreal. The winner of the 4 p.m. tipoff will play at No.1 Laval on Wednesday in the first round of the RSEQ University playoffs.

Coach's Corner
"We will approach this game the way we have approached games all year," said Gaiters' head coach Craig Norman. "This does have huge ramifications; we are playing for the chance to play more basketball. It will be tough on the road at UQAM; we are expecting big performances from our vets. I think we will be more rested since UQAM plays tonight (Thursday) but it's a big game so I'm not sure how much that matters"
 
YTD
So far this season the Gaiters have bested the Citadins twice and lost once. Bishop's opened their year by winning 69-65 in Lennoxville on the heels of Metchline Gabelus' (Montreal, Que./Champlain College St-Lambert) 21 points and 12 rebounds.
 
UQAM returned the favour, winning 78-73 in Montreal on Jan. 17. Marie Berrouette (Montreal, Que./Dawson College) had a monster double-double with 18 points and 15 rebounds in the loss while rookie Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) scored a game-high 21. Veronique Boivin netted 20 for the Citadins in the win.
 
Bishop's bounced back in a big way on Jan. 19. They won 80-77 in front of their hometown fans. Berrouette had her third double-double in as many games against UQAM with 13 points and 11 rebounds while all five Gaiter starters scored in double figures.
 
Last time out
Despite having just two wins, Bishop's still controls their own fate. Last weekend the fell 78-54 to Concordia on senior's night in Mitchell Gym.  The Gaiters have all week to prepare for the Citadins, while UQAM hosts McGill on Thursday night in what is a meaningless game for the Citadins.

Men's Note
The Gaiters' men's team is also in the thick of a playoff battle, and play at UQAM on Saturday at 6 p.m., however Thursday's results in the McGill at UQAM game and Concordia at Laval game have heavy implications as to what is at stake.  Stay tuned to www.gaiters.ca and the Gaiters social media channels for a complete preview on Friday.
