LENNOXVILLE, Que. – Saturday was about celebrating Women in Sport at Bishop's, unfortunately for the Bishop's Gaiters women's rugby team it was Concordia who did most of the celebrating. The conference's top team beat the Gaiters 69-17 in RSEQ University women's action.
Concordia jumped out to a 26-0 lead before
Erika Scott (Dewittville, Que./John Abbott College) scored for Bishop's. The Stingers tacked on another try before half for a 31-5 advantage.
The second was all Stingers except for eight minutes in the middle of the stanza where
Savannah Leroux (Saint Anne De Bellevue, Que./) and Scott each scored a try.
Hannah McLean (Collingwood, Ont./) booted through a conversion to wrap up the Gaiters scoring.

Leroux was named Gaiters MVP. Emile Magee earned the MVP for the Stingers. She scored a pair of tries.
Concordia's Jasmine Baxter led all scorers with 13 points from a try and four conversions.
Saturday's game was part of the 2019 Celebration of Women in Sport at Bishop's where four of the Gaiters female competed in Lennoxville. The event also had a symposium with guest speakers and featured a key note speech by TSN's Kate Beirness.
Next up Bishop's will host Montreal on Friday, Sept. 27 as part of the annual homecoming festivities. Kickoff is slated for 8:45 p.m. on Coulter Field.
