MONTREAL – The Bishop's Gaiters women's rugby team lost 45-21 to the Concordia Stingers in Montreal on Sunday afternoon.
The loss drops Bishop's to 0-2 on the year while Concordia improves to 2-0 in the RSEQ University B section.
Standings
Bishop's trailed early and were not able to get back into the game. They were down 17-0 after 20 minutes and 38-7 at the half.
Taylor Merrithew (Kingston, Ont./Bishop's College School) again led the way for Bishop's. She accounted for 12 of the Gaiters points on two tries and a conversion. That effort earned her game MVP honours for Bishop's.
Samantha DeVries (Finch, Ont./Tagwi S.S.) scored the other try and
Kaitie Shea (Saint John, N.B./) booted through two conversions.
Leanne Duncan scored two majors for Concordia and Shawna Brayton kicked five conversion. Five other Stingers each scored a try. Kristen Trafford was the Stingers MVP.
Next up for Bishop's they have a rematch with McGill (1-1) on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1 p.m. in Montreal. Bishop's lost a 25-22 heartbreaker to the Martlets last week.
