LENNOXVILLE, Que. - RSEQ University women's basketball MVP candidate
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) scored a game-high 24 points however the No.8 Laval Rouge et Or escaped Mitchell Gym with a 71-70 victory on Thursday night.
The game was close from the start, neither team led by more than seven points. There were also 13 lead changes and 10 ties. Down the stretch the veteran Rouge et Or somehow were able to pull out win.
Bishop's led by three with 28 seconds left, however a quick Laval score and a costly Gaiters turnover gave the Rouge et Or life. A Zarha Wajih bucket with seven seconds left put Laval on top and Bishop's was unable to get a final shot off.
The loss drops Bishop's to 8-6 while Laval clinches first place in the conference and is now 10-4.
Rookie
Jael Kabunda (Montreal, Que./College Montmorency) added 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the loss, her fourth 20-point game of the year.

For Laval Khaleann Caron-Goudreau score 22 and grabbed 13 rebounds while Lea Dominique added 16 and Carrie-Ann Auger 11.
Laval out-rebounded the Gaiters 48-36. That included 17 at the offensive end but they were only able to score 10 second chance points. They also had 15 more field goal attempts, but the Gaiters three-point shooting (10-26) kept them in the game.
