LENNOXVILLE, Que. - For the first time in 98 weeks, the Gaiters got back on the field last weekend in an AUS competition. Although the result didn't go the way of the Gaiters, the team shook off the rust from the past two years and is ready to move forward with the season. This weekend, BU is looking to improve on last week's season opener and show that they are, once again, a contender in the Atlantic. The Gaiters take to the air on Saturday as they head to the Maritimes for the first away trip of the 2021 season where they will face the StFX X-Men in Antigonish.
The last time the Gaiters were in Antigonish the weather wreaked havoc but the purple and white were able to maintain their composure and stick to the game plan to come away with a 17-11 victory and the Bigg Bowl. This time around, Bishop's will look for a similar outcome.
The X-Men (1-0) are coming off of a bye week while the Gaiters (0-1) hope to get in the win column. A week ago, Bishop's fell 10-7 to the Mount Allison Mounties.
All-Time:
The Gaiters are 2-4 against StFX since joining the AUS in 2017 and were 1-2 against the X-Men prior to that in RSEQ-AUS crossover play.
