The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team hit the road on Friday and defeated the UQTR Patriotes 3-1 in Trois-Rivières.
After controlling the game in the opening 40 minutes,
Pénélope Cabana opened the scoring for the Gaiters which allowed the purple and white to take a 1-0 lead into the break.
Following halftime, the Patriotes got on the board 61 minutes into the game to even the scoreline. The Gaiters responded just 14 minutes later when the captain,
Kayla Kyle (Montreal, QC/John Abbott College), stepped up to the penalty spot and put the ball past the UQTR goaltender, extending the Gaiters lead to 2-1. The purple and white added one more goal to their evening total when
Chloe Calitri (Oakville, ON/St. Thomas Aquinas C.S.S.) set up
Andréa Boily's fourth goal of her rookie campaign, giving the Gaiters a decisive 3-1 victory.
Bishop's dominated the game offensively, putting thirteen shots on goal in the 90 minutes of play to UQTR's six. Goalkeeper,
Anne-Marie Ulliac (Edmonton, AB/Western Kentucky University), made five saves throughout the contest.
Kayla Kyle (Montreal, QC/John Abbott College) was named the MVP for the Gaiters.
Up next, the Gaiters (3-6-2) return to Coulter Field on Sunday October 24 and look to continue their winning ways against the Sherbrooke Vert et Or. Game time is 3PM. Bishop's will celebrate its graduating seniors prior to kick-off.
