Gaiters fall to Stingers on Friday night in Montreal

MONTREAL – The Bishop's Gaiters women's soccer team's playoff hopes came to an end on Friday night in Montreal when they lost 1-0 to the Concordia Stingers in RSEQ University women's soccer.

Heading into the match, Bishop's playoff hopes required a result and help from their cross-town foe Sherbrooke in a contest with McGill.

Unfortunately for the Gaiters their loss ended any hopes of returning to the post-season for the first time since 2001. McGill also beat Sherbrooke on Friday night to propel themselves into the playoffs.

Tied 0-0 at half, Concordia scored in the 67th minute for the lone tally of the game.  Kayla Kyle (Montreal, QC/John Abbott College) was name game MVP for Bishop's.

Bishop's will close out the 2021 campaign back in Montreal on Sunday when they face the McGill Martlets at 3 p.m.
