LENNOXVILLE, Que. - The purple and white did not disappoint when they stepped onto Coulter Field on Saturday afternoon for the first time in a CUFLA competition since 2019. Fifth-year midfielder,
Sam Firth (Ottawa, ON/Nepean H.S.), found the back of the net six times over the duration of Saturday's game while senior
Mitchell Broussard (Bedford, NS/Charles P. Allen H.S.) added another five in the Gaiters' 19-12 victory over the visiting Carleton Ravens. The win moves the Gaiters to 4-0 while the Ravens are still searching for their first win.
The Gaiters started the game strong when
Hank Wulder (Victoria, BC/Claremont S.S.) scored on the Gaiters' first shot of the contest, less than one minute into the opening quarter. The purple and white remained focused during the opening 40 minutes and scored often, heading into the break with a 9-2 lead. Carleton came into the second half, refreshed and ready to compete. The Ravens dominated the play in the third quarter, scoring six goals to the Gaiters' two and maintained much of the possession and entered the final stanza down by three and within striking distance.
Bishop's refocused on the game plan and finished the match on a high note, notching eight goals in the final 20 minutes to finish ahead of the Ravens.
