LENNOXVILLE, Que. - The Bishop's Gaiters will compete in a Subway AUS Football Semifinal contest with the Mount Allison Mounties this Saturday in Sackville, New Brunswick. Kick-off is set for 2PM Atlantic. The two teams will meet for the third time this season and the second time in as many weeks in Sackville, this time in the post-season. Given that this is a semi-final, this game will differ significantly from last week as one team will earn a berth to the Loney Bowl while the other's season will end. There is no doubt that the Gaiters and Mounties will compete hard and leave it all on the field on Saturday.
 
The two previous meetings this season were closely contested, defensive battles with a combined 37 points scored between the two teams in two games. The Gaiters and Mounties met in Week 2 of the AUS season in Lennoxville where the Mounties edged the Gaiters 10-7 and escaped with the win. 

In the final week of the season last Saturday, the two teams once again matched-up, this time in Sackville. Similar to earlier in the season, the two teams kept the score low and Mount Allison finished the game ahead 18-2. Despite the outcome, the Gaiters finished the game with 342 yards of offense compared to Mount Allison's 269 yards. On the ground, Bishop's rushed for 232 yards, averaging 6.4 yards per carry and completed 62.5% of their passes. Defensively, seven Gaiters totalled at least four tackles on the day, distributing the defensive responsibilities across the field. 
 
Mount Allison finished the regular season in second position with a 5-1 record while the Gaiters ended the regular season with a 2-4 record, right behind the Mounties in third place in the standings. The Gaiters will now look to get the victory in the game with the most on the line.


Statistically Speaking:
Louis Philippe Gregoire, a fifth-year senior, ended the regular season second on the AUS league leader in rushing with 591 yards on 98 carries this season. Gregoire averaged 98.5 yards per game and 6.0 yards per carry and had three touchdowns. Defensively, fifth-year sports studies student, Keagan Hughes (West Kelowna, BC/M.B.S.S.), finished the regular season with 34.5 tackles, third best in the AUS. Hughes averaged 5.8 tackles per gam and tallied one sack this season and five tackles for loss of a combined 14 yards for the Gaiters. He has also recorded one forced fumble in 2021.
