LENNOXVILLE, Que. - With five weeks of AUS football now wrapped up, the Bishop's Gaiters will close out the regular season in Sackville, New Brunswick against the same team the purple and white opened their 2021 campaign against - the Mount Allison Mounties. The landscape of this game differs from the first meeting between the two teams given that both the Mounties and Gaiters have already earned a berth to the AUS semi-finals, scheduled for next week. With no implications on the standings, both teams will look to finish the regular season on a high note and gain some momentum headed into next week's playoff game.
Despite the outcomes of this weekend's contests, the 2021 AUS semi-finals are already locked in for next Saturday. The Acadia Axemen will head to Antigonish to face the StFX X-Men in one of the semis while the other will see the Gaiters return to Sackville and, once again, face the Mounties of Mount Allison - this time for a spot in the Loney Bowl.
The Mounties (4-1) defeated the Acadia Axemen 13-8 last weekend in Wolfville, Nova Scotia while the Gaiters (2-3) are coming off of their second bye-week of the 2021 season.
All-Time:
The Gaiters are 3-5 against Mount Allison since joining the AUS in 2017 and were 3-2 against the Mounties prior to that in RSEQ-AUS crossover play.
