PETERBOROUGH, Ont. – A late push and wild scramble in front of the Brock Badgers net in the dying seconds wasn't enough as the Bishop's Gaiters pressed to tie their 2022 Baggataway Cup quarterfinal on Friday night in Peterborough, Ont. The Badgers held on and eliminated Bishop's from the championship tournament for the second consecutive year, this time by a final of 8-7.
How it happened…
…the Gaiters jumped out to a 2-0 lead before Brock scored 4 unanswered to end the first quarter up 4-2
…
Antoine Tremblay (Calgary, AB/Central Memorial H.S.) cut the lead to 4-3 early in the second stanza
…Brock added another to head to the halftime break up 5-3
…Tremblay cut the lead to 5-4 five minutes into the third quarter
…Jacob Gaspertti tied the game at 5-5 with 5 minutes remaining in the third, but two late Brock goals once again gave them a two-goal cushion, 7-5, heading into the last 15 minutes
…Bishop's got one back from Gaspertti five minutes into the frame, Brock responded just 2:30 later
…Alex Lisotte scored with 1:49 left to make it a 1-goal game and set-up the frantic finish
…A late fleury of shots and scramble in front of the Brock net, didn't result in anything and the Badgers held on for the 8-7 win
