Looking to start the second half of the season with a win, the Bishop's Gaiters women's hockey team travelled to the nation's capital for a match-up with the Ottawa Gee-Gees on Friday night at TD Place Arena.

In the third and final regular season match-up between the Gaiters and Gee-Gees, both teams returned to the ice for the first time in 2022.

On Friday, it was the Gee-Gees who came out on top, handing the Gaiters their first loss of the new year, taking the game with a 1-0 scoreline.

After a scoreless opening two periods, the loan goal came in the early stages of the final frame for the host Gee-Gees.

Despite putting 11 shots on the Ottawa net and standing strong defensively, the Gaiters were unable to find an equalizer.

Charley Wing (Huntsville, Ont./Mother Teresa C.S.S.) finished the night with 22 saves for Bishop's and was named the second Star of the Game.

The loss drops the Gaiters to 3-10-0-0 on the season.

The Gaiters will now return home for the final time this regular season when the visiting McGill Martlets are in town for an 8PM puck drop on Friday February 25th, 2022. Bishop's will celebrate the team's graduating seniors prior to the game.
