The Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team wrapped up their home-and-home series with the Concordia Stingers on Saturday night at Mitchell Gymnasium.
After leading by as much as 29 points, the Gaiters grabbed an 82-75 victory over the Stingers, splitting the first two game series of the new year.
Concordia scored the first three points of the opening quarter but it was all Gaiters from there. Concordia struggled offensively and Bishop's took full advantage, leading 21-7 after 10 minutes of play.
The Gaiters continued the momentum in the second stanza, shooting 60% from the field and 3-point range. The home team led 45-30 at the halftime break.
In the third quarter, the Stingers found their stride but the Gaiters kept pace, holding onto the lead after 30 minutes of play - 68-54.
Concordia managed to decrease the deficit in the final 10 minutes of play, but the Gaiters held onto the lead to finish the game on top 82-75.
Bishop's earned their first win of 2022 and ended the weekend on a high note.
Amaiquen Siciliano (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Velez Sarsfield) led the way for the Gaiters with 31 points.
Jael Kabunda (Montreal, Que./College Montmorency) and
Katerina Stoupas (Montreal, Que./Dawson College) recorded double-doubles for the Gaiters with 13 points, 11 rebounds and 22 points, 10 rebounds respectively.

The Gaiters will now prepare to head to Quebec City to face the Laval Rouge et Or on Thursday March 3, 2022 for a 6PM tip-off.
