With only two games left on the RSEQ indoor soccer schedule, the Bishop's Gaiters looked to secure a win against crosstown rival, the Sherbrooke Vert et Or.
As both teams share the same home facility, the Gaiters played the role of visitors on Sunday afternoon and stole the show in the process with a 2-0 victory.
Bishop's got on the board early, just minutes into the game.
Grace Kunz (Calgary, AB/Springbank H.S.) shot the ball from the right side of the field across the Sherbrooke goal and beat the goaltender in the 4th minute to make it 1-0 in favour of the Gaiters. At the halftime whistle, the Gaiters continued to hold a one goal advantage.
In the second half, both teams had opportunities at net but it was the Gaiters who doubled up their lead late, in the 84th minute.
Alycia Morin (Montreal, QC/Cégep Lionel Groulx) was the goal scorer, recording her second of the shortened indoor season.
The Gaiters secured the 2-0 win and head into the final game of the season with momentum.
Next Up
The Gaiters will now return to the field for the final time this season on Sunday March 27th, 2022 when the purple and white host the Ottawa Gee-Gees for a 2PM kick-off.
