With a berth to the RSEQ Championship game on the line, the Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team was looking to upset the #2 seed on the road.
On Wednesday night, the Gaiters travelled to face the Concordia Stingers in Montreal for an RSEQ Semi-Final.
Unfortunately, the Stingers proved to be too much for the Gaiters, as Concordia defeated Bishop's by a score of 76-42.
Despite going down 9-0 early, the Gaiters clawed back and tied the game at 14-14 after the opening quarter.
After the first quarter, Concordia got their feet under them and took off from there, outscoring the Gaiters 27-7 in the second frame.
At the halftime break, the Gaiters trailed Concordia 41-21, needing a big second half to get back into the game.
The second half wasn't kind to Bishop's as the Gaiters tried to hang tough with a strong Stingers team. Concordia extended their lead to 54-31 after 30 minutes of play.
Both teams played out the final 10 minutes but the gap was too much for the Gaiters who were unable to mount a comeback, the victory going to the Stingers.
Ibrahim Ngom (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) led the Gaiters with 10 points and
Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, Que./Suffield Academy) added nine in the contest.
The loss ends the Gaiters' 2021-22 RSEQ campaign.
