In the second weekend back on the court, the Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team traveled to Quebec City for a match-up with Laval.
Coming off of a big win last week, the Gaiters looked to add to their win total at the midway point of the season but came up just short on Thursday, dropping the contest 84-75 to the Rouge et Or.
An important match-up for the standings, both teams started the game with some intensity.
After an opening 10 minutes of alternating baskets, the Gaiters led Laval 23-16.
The Gaiters opened the scoring in the second frame but, much like the first quarter, the teams continued to trade baskets. Bishop's held the lead for nine minutes but the Rouge et Or evened the score, deadlocking the score at 40-40 headed into the break.
In the third quarter, the Rouge et Or found some offense, outscoring the Gaiters 23 to 15 to take a narrow lead into the fourth.
Both teams put up near equal points in the closing frame but the third quarter proved to be the difference for the Laval Rouge et Or who took the game by a final score of 84-75.
Ibrahim Ngom (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) posted a team high 26 points while rookie
Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, Que./Suffield Academy) added 25 points in the loss.
