LENNOXVILLE, Que. –
Obinna Dike-Nwagbara (Montreal, QC, Champlain College Saint-Lambert) and
Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, QC/Suffield Academy) each had double-doubles for the Bishop's Gaiters who cruised to a 96-80 win over the Laval Rouge et Or on Thursday night in Mitchell Gym.
The win moves Bishop's to 3-0 and atop the RSEQ standings, while Laval falls to 0-3.
Dike scored 12 points and added 11 assists in 30 minutes. Robert scored a game-high 21 on 8-12 shooting and added 10 rebounds.
Joshua Koulamallah (Gatineau, QC/Dalhousie University) scored 16 and
CJ Skye (Toronto, On/) added 14 to round out the Gaiters in double figures.
Four Rouge et Or players reached the 10-point mark led by Sidney Tremblay-Lacombe's 18.
Bishop's came flying out of the gates; they scored 31 in the first stanza. Laval answered by slowing them down in quarter two and cut into the lead. The Gaiters were up 45-42 at halftime. They found the pace they liked in the third before putting the game away about midway through the fourth and went onto win 96-80.
Bishop's nearly double Laval with 42 points in the paint compared to 24 by the visitors. That was thanks in part to 20 offensive rebounds.
The Gaiters have a quick turnaround as they travel to Montreal to face the defending RSEQ Champion UQAM Citadins who have a matching 3-0 record. That game is set for Saturday at 4 p.m.

Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, QC/Suffield Academy) ont tous deux réalisé des « doubles-doubles » pour les Gaiters de Bishop's, qui ont remporté une victoire convaincante de 96-80 contre les Rouge et Or de Laval jeudi soir dans le gymnase Mitchell.
La victoire propulse Bishop's à 3-0 en tête du classement du RSEQ, tandis que Laval tombe à 0-3.
Dike a marqué 12 points et ajouté 11 passes décisives en 30 minutes. Robert a marqué 21 points et a ajouté 10 rebonds.
Joshua Koulamallah (Gatineau, QC/Dalhousie University) a marqué 16 points et
CJ Skye (Toronto, On/) en a ajouté 14 pour compléter les Gaiters qui a marqué 10 points ou plus.
Quatre joueurs des Rouge et Or ont atteint la barre des 10 points, menés par les 18 points de Sidney Tremblay-Lacombe.
Bishop's est parti vite; ils ont marqué 31 points dans le premier quart. Laval a répondu en les ralentissant au deuxième quart et en réduisant l'écart. Les Gaiters menaient 45-42 à la mi-temps. Ils ont trouvé le rythme qu'ils aimaient au troisième avant de sceller le sort du match à mi-chemin du quatrième quart-temps et ont remporté la victoire 96-80.
