LENNOXVILLE, Que. – An offensive outburst led the Bishop's Gaiters to a dominant victory over the McGill Redbirds on Thursday night in Lennoxville.  Sophomore forward Etienne Gagnon (Longueuil, QC/Cegep de Sherbrooke) scored 25 points including a 5-5 performance from three-point range to pace the Gaiters in their 111-61 win.
 
The 111 points is the most scored in an RSEQ game since before 2003.
 
The first quarter was a track meet with Bishop's holding a 30-29 lead. The Gaiters used a 17-2 run in the final six minutes of the second frame to grab control of the game and not look back.  They took a 58-39 lead into halftime. A slower third stanza left Bishop's up 73-53.  Bishop's kept pushing and had six different players knock down three pointers as they were 7-8 from behind the arc in the fourth quarter to outscore the Redbirds 38-8 and soar to the 111-61 victory.
 
Gagnon led all scorers while four other Gaiters reached double digits. Corey Nzigamasabo (Saint-Basile-le-Grand, QC/State Fair Community College), Hisham Saleh (Gatineau, QC/Champlain-Lennoxville) and Ambs Mathe (Montreal, QC/Cegep Montmorency) scored 16, 14 and 12 respectively off the bench and Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, QC/Suffield Academy) had 14 points on 6-7 shooting in just 21 minutes as the Gaiters rolled their bench. Eleven players played at least 12 minutes for the hosts who improve to 4-1 in the RSEQ with the win.
 
McGill was led by Sean Herscovitch who scored 14 in the loss as they fall to 0-5.
 
As expected, the Gaiters dominated many statistical categories including points in the paint 38-12, points off turnovers 30-14, second chance points 12-2 and bench points 55-27.
 
Bishop's will close out the first semester on Thursday, Nov. 30 in Montreal against the Concordia Stingers (2-2). Tipoff is slated for 8 p.m.

LENNOXVILLE, Qué. – Une explosion offensive a conduit les Gaiters de Bishop's à une victoire dominante sur les Redbirds de McGill jeudi soir à Lennoxville. Le joueur de deuxième année, Etienne Gagnon (Longueuil, QC/Cegep de Sherbrooke), a marqué 25 points, dont un impressionnant 5 sur 5 à trois points, pour guider les Gaiters vers leur victoire écrasante de 111-61.
 
Les 111 points marqués constituent le plus grand total dans un match de la RSEQ depuis avant 2003.
 
Le premier quart a été une course effrénée, les Gaiters menant 30-29. Les Gaiters ont utilisé une série de 17-2 au cours des six dernières minutes du deuxième quart pour prendre le contrôle du match. Ils ont pris une avance de 58-39 à la mi-temps. Une troisième période plus lente a laissé les Gaiters en tête 73-53. Les Gaiters ont continué à pousser et six joueurs différents ont réussi des tirs à trois points au quatrième quart, surpassant les Redbirds 38-8 et s'envolant vers la victoire de 111-61.
 
Gagnon a été le meilleur marqueur, tandis que quatre autres Gaiters ont atteint 10 points ou plus. Corey Nzigamasabo (Saint-Basile-le-Grand, QC/State Fair Community College), Hisham Saleh (Gatineau, QC/Champlain-Lennoxville) et Ambs Mathe (Montreal, QC/Cegep Montmorency) ont marqué respectivement 16, 14 et 12 points en sortie de banc, et Charles Robert (Vaudreuil, QC/Suffield Academy) a marqué 14 points en seulement 21 minutes, les Gaiters faisant tourner leur banc. Onze joueurs ont joué au moins 12 minutes pour les hôtes, qui améliorent leur fiche à 4-1 dans la RSEQ avec cette victoire.
 
McGill a été dirigé par Sean Herscovitch, qui a marqué 14 points dans la défaite, portant leur fiche à 0-5.
 
Comme prévu, les Gaiters ont dominé de nombreuses catégories statistiques, dont les points dans la peinture 38-12, les points sur balles perdues 30-14, les points de deuxième chance 12-2 et les points du banc 55-27.
 
Bishop's clôturera le premier semestre le jeudi 30 novembre à Montréal contre les Stingers de Concordia (2-2). La matche est prévu à 20 h.
