The Gaiters kicked off their first-ever playoff appearance in Montreal on Thursday night, where they took on the first-place Stingers in game one of a best of three. The Stingers drew first blood in the opening period, but the Gaiters responded with a big powerplay goal by captain Marie-Camille Theoret. The second period was tightly-contested and both teams struggled to figure each other out. A few fortunate bounces kept the puck out of the Gaiters net, until the Stingers finally found the tie-breaker. Bishop's was right where they wanted to be, with a threatening chance to win the game heading into the final frame. Unfortunately, Concordia proved to be too much on this night. After an untimely penalty to negate a power-play, the Gaiters got caught flat-footed when a Stingers forward was sprung and buried a partial breakaway goal. The third Stingers goal deflated a Gaiters team that had been pushing the pace, and Concordia took care of finishing the game, and won by a final score of 5-1.
