Cherif Nicolas

Chérif Nicolas, a 40-year-old from Montreal, was named the 10th head coach in the modern era of the Bishop's Gaiters football team on Dec. 21, 2016.

Nicolas was at the helm of the powerhouse Cégep de Vieux Montréal Spartiates for the previous seven years and amassed a 56-26 record. In 2014 they won the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) Division 1 Bol D'Or.

Prior to leading the Spartiates as their head coach he was their defensive coordinator for a season. Nicolas also coached at College Notre Dame in various capacities and spent a year on the Montreal Carabins sideline earlier in his career.

Nicolas suited up for the Carleton Ravens and Concordia Stingers as an undergraduate and played two seasons for the Montreal Carabins while he completed his law degree. Upon graduation he practiced law for six years before returning to football to pursue his passion.

He also has experience coaching the team Quebec and team Canada U-18 Selections and is a National Coaching Certification Program (NCCP) Master Learning Facilitator for both competition coaching and Safe Contact clinics.
