The role of assistant coach has been awarded to Alexandra Boulanger. Alexandra is no stranger to the U SPORTS network, having been a member herself as a player until last year. At the time, she was with the Concordia Stingers. Despite her fulltime involvement as a player, Alexandra joined the Patriotes du Cégep St-Laurent in 2019 as an assistant coach for 3 consecutive seasons. This experience, in addition to time spent on the coaching staff of the Cégep Édouard-Montpetit Lynx, the Ouellette-Poulin summer camps since 2019, and the Hockey Québec U18, U17 and U16 camps since 2020. She is also a member of the first cohort of six players from the "Creating Coaches" program developed by Hockey Canada. This mentoring and training program is a 2 year program aiming to help university-level players become future coaches. Regarding her arrival, Alexandra mentions that she had the opportunity to learn from three different university programs, and to be a full-time student-athlete during 7 seasons. In that time, she has competed in 4 national championships, all of which ended very differently. This important background is definitely part of what she hopes to bring to Bishop's in order to understand the players' reality and guide this promising program to the next stage.
À titre d’entraineure-adjointe, c’est Alexandra Boulanger qui s’est vu décernée le rôle. Alexandra est bien familière avec le réseau U SPORTS, alors qu’elle en faisait elle-même partie jusqu’à l’an dernier. Elle s’alignait alors avec les Stingers de Concordia. Malgré son implication à temps plein en tant que joueuse, Alexandra s’est joint aux Patriotes du Cégep St-Laurent en 2019 en tant qu’entraîneure-adjointe,et ce, pendant 3 saisons consécutives. Cette expérience s’ajoute à du temps passé dans le coaching staff des Lynx du Cégep Édouard-Montpetit, les camps estivaux Ouellette-Poulin depuis l’an 2019, ainsi qu’aux camps d’Hockey Québec U18 depuis 2020. Elle est d’ailleurs membre de la première cohorte de six joueuses issues du programme “Creating Coaches” développé par Hockey Canada. Ce programme de mentorat et de formation s'échelonne sur une durée de 2 saisons. Il vise à amener des joueuses de niveau universitaire à devenir de futures entraîneures. Par rapport à son arrivée, Alexandra mentionne qu’elle a eu l’opportunité d’apprendre de trois programmes universitaire différents, et d’être une étudiante-athlète à plein temps lors de 7 saisons. Durant cette période, elle a participé à 4 championnats nationaux qui se sont tous conclus de façon très différente. Cet important bagage fait définitivement partie de ce qu’elle espère amener à Bishop’s afin de comprendre la réalité des joueuses et de guider ce programme prometteur vers la prochaine étape.
