SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University women's soccer, lacrosse and the men's basketball teams are in action this weekend. Women's soccer will play Sherbrooke on Friday at 6:30 p.m. and will host No. 6 Montreal on Sunday at 3 p.m. Lacrosse will play Concordia on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Trent on Sunday at 11 a.m. both on Coulter Field. The Men's basketball team will face the University of Victoria on Friday at 6 p.m., Carleton on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Lakehead on Sunday at 12 p.m. in the House-Laughton Tournament in Ottawa.
The women's soccer team (2-8-0) will face two difficult opponents this weekend with the Sherbrooke Vert et Or (6-3-1) on Friday and No. 6 Montreal Carabins (7-1-2) on Sunday. The Gaiters will visit the Vert et Or on Friday for a 6:30 p.m. start. They fell to Sherbrooke earlier this season. The Gaiters will be home Sunday to host the No. 6 Montreal at 3 p.m. on Coulter Field. Bishop's lost to the Carabins in Montreal earlier this campaign.
The lacrosse team (5-2) will host the Concordia Stingers (0-8) and the Trent Excalibur (4-4) this weekend to close out their CUFLA regular season. The Gaiters will play the Stingers on Saturday night at 8 p.m. Bishop's beat the Stingers 25-3 earlier in the season. Trent will be in town for an 11 a.m. start on Coulter Field on Sunday. The Gaiters won 11-7 over the Excalibur in Peterborough in early September. Bishop's coming off a tight 10-9 loss to the McGill Redmen (10-0) on Wednesday night in Montreal.
The men's basketball team will travel to Ottawa this weekend to play three top CIS teams in the House-Laughton Tournament hosted by the Carleton Ravens. The Gaiters will play University of Victoria on Friday at 6 p.m., Carleton at 8 p.m. on Saturday and Lakehead on Sunday at 12 p.m. Carleton won the CIS Championship for the ninth time in 2013 with a win over Lakehead. University of Victoria finished sixth in the 2013 CIS Championship. The Gaiters had a solid start to the season finishing 2-1 at the Queen's Tindall Classic.
