LAVAL MEN AND MONTREAL WOMEN CLAIM RSEQ GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

SHERBROOKE, Que. – The 2013 RSEQ University Golf Championships took place at the Milby Golf Club from Sept. 29 to Oct. 1. The three days of competition in near perfect conditions led to the Laval men and Montreal women claiming the crown. Caroline Ciot from Montreal and Francis Rouillier from UQTR won the individual titles.

The three day event at Milby, the course that hosted the golf competition of the 2013 Canada Games, produced drama on their tough greens. Ciot (Quebec City) topped fellow Carabin Sabrina Sapone (Montreal) on the first playoff hole to claim player of the year honours. Sapone fired an even-par 73 on the final day of competition to force the playoff.

By placing 1-2 in the RSEQ championship and 1-2 in the overall standing Ciot and Sapone led the Carabins women to their second consecutive team title and fourth in five years.

On the men's side, Rouillier fired a one-under 72 on day three to go along with his first two rounds of 71 and 78. He claimed the individual title. Julien Marchand of Laval posted championship rounds of 71-75-77 to finish second and Jean-Philip Comellier of Montreal finished third with rounds of 81-74-73.

The Laval Rouge et Or claimed the men's team title for an amazing 12th year in a row.  ETS finished in second with their coach Danny De Couval earning 2013 RSEQ Coach of the Year honours. Rounding out the top three schools was UQTR.
