Box Score 2 SHERBROOKE, Que. – The women's soccer team and men's and women's basketball teams were on the road this weekend. Women's soccer played McGill and UQTR. The men's basketball team played Calgary, Saskatchewan and Toronto in the Graham Shootout in Saskatchewan. The women's basketball team played Carleton, Guelph and the Concordia at the Metro Glebe Tournament in Ottawa.
Women's soccer (2-11-1) finished their season this weekend against McGill (8-3-3) on Friday and UQTR (3-9-1) on Sunday. The Lady Gaiters fell to 5-0 to the Martlets at McGill on Friday night. Bishop's tied UQTR 0-0 in their final regular season game on Sunday in Trois-Rivieres, Que.
The women's basketball team was in Ottawa for the Metro Glebe Tournament. They faced the host Carleton Ravens, Guelph Gryphons and the Concordia Stingers. The women went 0-3 in the tournament falling to the Ravens 70-45 on Friday, 70-48 to Guelph on Saturday and 59-34 to RSEQ rivals the Concordia Stingers on Sunday. Edith Nobelecilla Varela (Quito, Ecuador) was named a tournament all-star. The Lady Gaiters will open their regular season against UQAM on Nov. 9 at 6 p.m. in Mitchell Gym.
The men's basketball team was in Saskatchewan on the weekend for the Graham Shootout hosted by the University of Saskatchewan Huskies. The Gaiters went 1-2 in the tournament. They opened on Thursday with an 87-77 win over the Calgary Dinos then fell 81-75 to the Huskies and ended the weekend with a 65-57 loss to the University of Toronto.
Mike Andrews (Oakville, Ont.) was named to the tournament all-star team. The Gaiters will open the regular season against UQAM on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. in Mitchell Gym.
