NO. 10 GAITERS HOST STINGERS IN HOMECOMING FINALE

SHERBROOKE, Que. – The No. 10 Bishop's Gaiters host the Concordia Stingers on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. The RSEQ University Football game will mark the fifth and final game on Coulter Field in a busy homecoming weekend at Bishop's.

Bishop's (2-1) is coming off a dramatic 22-21 victory over the Sherbrooke Vert et Or (0-3). The win gave them the 2013 Mayor's Cup. The Stingers fell (0-3) 35-18 at home to the St. FX X-Men last weekend.

The Gaiters will look to a trio of veterans to get the offense moving.  Quarterback Jordan Heather (Oromocto, N.B.) is second in the RSEQ (11th in Canada) in passing yards, averaging 289 per game. He also has a 58.9% completion percentage and six touchdown passes against three interceptions. He is just 282 yards shy of 6000 for his career.

Alexander Fox (Montreal) is one of the Heather's go-to guys.  He currently sits at 126 career receptions, 1765 career yards and 16 career receiving touchdowns. The fourth year pass catcher has 14 receptions and three touchdowns to date this year.

Finally, running back Matt Burke (Timberlea, N.S.) has fond memories from a year ago when these two teams played in Lennoxville.  He rushed 30 times for 244 yards and a touchdown and earned RSEQ Offensive Player of the Week honours.

Defensively the Gaiters have allowed 537.7 yards per game this year but have only surrendered 30.7 points.

"Concordia has nothing to lose," said Gaiters head coach Kevin Mackey.  "They are going to play physical; we have to be ready for it.  Offensively we have to put points on the board and defensively we've been a bend but don't break team, but 600 yards of total offence (Sherbrooke had 604 last week) is a little too much."

The No.10 Gaiters and Stingers will battle on Coulter Field on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. as part of the annual Bishop's homecoming festivities.  The game will be available live online at http://live.streamit.ca/?player=2129.  You can follow the Gaiters on Twitter (@BishopsGaiters) and get all your news and sports information at www.gaiters.ca.
