GAITERS MEET STINGERS IN HOME-AND-HOME SERIES

SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters women's basketball team will take on the Concordia Stingers on Friday night at home and Saturday afternoon in Montreal.  Start time for the games is 6 p.m. and 2 p.m. respectively.

The Gaiters lost to the No. 8 McGill Martlets twice last weekend.  They fell 66-43 on Thursday night in Montreal and 71-42 on Saturday at home in Mitchell Gym.  In their first loss the Gaiters saw a pair of rookies, Naomie Zitt-James (Ajax, Ont.) and Genevieve Onyeka (Toronto), each tally double figures with 10 points.  On Saturday Catherine Rondeau scored 11 points going 4-for-9 in shooting in 35 minutes to lead the way for the purple and silver.

The No. 6 Stingers have not played since their home-and-home series with McGill two weeks ago.  The Stingers won both games 63-53 and 49-47.  Reigning RSEQ MVP Kaylah Barret (Brampton, Ont.) scored 18 points in both games and was named RSEQ female player of the week for her performance.  Concordia beat Bishop's in November 66-40 in Montreal.

"We are missing key players but this weekend should be a good experience for our younger players," said Gaiters head coach Alex Perno.  "Hopefully this will make us a deeper team in the future."

The Gaiters will take on Concordia at home on Friday night at 6 p.m. and on Saturday in Montreal at 2 p.m.  Friday's game will be live streamed online at http://live.streamit.ca/?player=2129.
