SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's Gaiters basketball teams face-off in a pair of games this weekend against the Concordia Stingers. The first on Thursday night in Montreal and the second at home on Saturday night. The games are set to tip at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. both nights.
The Lady Gaiters (0-6) will play Concordia (1-3) this weekend. Bishop's played McGill (6-0) this past weekend. They stayed with the No. 2 ranked team in the country, falling 67-50 to the Martlets. The Stingers are coming off their by-week. In their previous meeting, Concordia won 87-24 over the Gaiters. Concordia's Marilyse Roy-Viau (Mirabel, Que.) sits atop the RSEQ standings with 19.5 points per game and her teammate Kaylah Barrett (Brampton, Ont.) is second with 17.5 points.
The men's basketball squad (3-3) will face Concordia (1-3) this weekend. The last time they met the Gaiters won 76-69 as
Kyle Desmarais (Montreal) scored 18 points. Micheal Fsosu (Montreal) of the Stingers scored 17 points and had seven rebounds in the contest.
Fosu is seventh in the RSEQ standings with 13.0 points per game and first with 8.7 rebounds through three games. Former Gaiter Mukiya Post (Victoria, B.C.) is fourth averaging 15.5 points through four games. Desmarais is second with 16.3 points per game and 34.8 minutes per game in six games.
Matt McLean (Ottawa) averages 6.8 rebounds, making him tied for sixth in the standings.
Mike Andrews (Oakville, Ont.) is first with 2.7 blocks per game.
The Gaiters will travel to Montreal on Thursday to face Concordia. The women will tip at 6 p.m. and the men to follow at 8 p.m. Bishop's will host the Stingers on Saturday night at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. The games will be webcasted live online.
