SHERBROOKE, Que.  – The Bishop's university basketball squads will play two games in two days against the Laval Rouge et Or this weekend.  The Gaiters will travel to Quebec City on Friday and host Laval on Saturday.  Both sets of games are set to tip at 6 p.m. for the women and 8 p.m. for the men. 
 
The Lady Gaiters (0-8) played last Saturday night at home against Concordia falling 62-48 after a tough 69-32 loss on Thursday in Montreal.  Laval (3-5) had a home-and-home series with No.2 McGill (8-0).  They lost 74-62 and 62-51 on Thursday and Saturday respectively.  In the Gaiters last meeting with Laval they lost 81-42 in November.  A standout in that game was Noemie Hamel-Petit (Magog, Que.) who scored 10 points and had two rebounds for Bishop's.  On Laval's side Sara-Jane Marois (Quebec City) had 13 points and three rebounds. 
 
The Gaiters men (4-4) grabbed their first win of 2015 over Concordia (2-4) 59-40 at home on Saturday, after they fell 86-84 in overtime to the Stingers in Montreal.  As the Gaiters and Laval sit tied at 4-4 in the RSEQ, second place will be on the line this weekend.  Laval played McGill (6-2) over the weekend but came up short both at home (69-63) and away (73-42).  Bishop's won 71-58 in their last meeting with the Rouge et Or in November.  Mike Andrews (Oakville, Ont.) recorded his highest points total so far this year with 16 points and 11 rebounds.  For Laval, Karl Demers-Belanger (Quebec City) was the top scorer with 17 points. 
 
Kyle Desmarais (Montreal) currently leads the Gaiters and sits second in the RSEQ standings, averaging 16.5 points per game.  He is third in steals averaging 2.8 per game and first in minutes played averaging 35.5 minutes through eight games.  Andrews sits a top the standings averaging 2.8 blocks per game. 
 
Bishop's will travel to Quebec City on Friday night and will host the Laval Rouge et Or on Saturday night.  The women will tip at 6 p.m. and the men at 8 p.m. on both nights.
