SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University basketball squads will close out the 2014-15 regular season against UQAM on Saturday Feb. 28. The women will tip at 6 p.m. and the men to follow at 8 p.m. It will be senior night for nine of our graduating Gaiters.
The Lady Gaiters (0-15) close out their season at home against UQAM (10-4). UQAM took their last meeting 67-28 at home after the night before winning 68-52 in Mitchell Gym. UQAM is coming off a 56-51 loss to No. 4 McGill and will play Concordia (6-9) on Feb. 26 before coming to Lennoxville. Bishop's will be saying good-bye to two graduating players
Eloisa Katz (Raanana, Israel) and
Dani Lumley (Sherbrooke, Que.).
The men's basketball team (7-8) hosts UQAM (4-10) in their final regular season game. The Gaiters first loss of the season came against UQAM in November and the Citadins lead the head-to-head 2-1. Bishop's will have the home advantage, as they beat UQAM 81-57 last time they visited. The Gaiters will also have the home crowd behind them for the RSEQ Final-4, in Mitchell Gym from Mar. 5-7. Bishop's will play at 8 p.m. on Mar. 6.
Kyle Desmarais (Montreal) currently sits tied for third in the conference with 14.2 points per game and second in steals with 2.5 per game.
Majid Naji (Lunel, France) is second with 7.6 rebounds per game.
The Gaiters will be honouring their graduating seniors at this weekend's game. Desmarais, Naji,
Patrick Kabongo (Toronto),
Mike Andrews (Oakville, Ont.),
Matt McLean (Ottawa),
Karim Sy-Morissette (Montreal) and
Jamil Abiad (Orleans, Ont.) will all be graduating.
