Box Score TORONTO – Mike Andrews finished off his Bishop's Gaiters career by scoring 29 points but it was not enough as the Bishop's Gaiters fell to the Windsor Lancers 91-80 on Friday in the consolation semi-final at the CIS Final-8 in Toronto.  The loss ends the 2014-15 campaign for the Gaiters and seven of their graduating players.
 
In what was a quick turnaround for both teams, the squads came out rolling their benches.  All 12 Gaiter players saw the floor in the first quarter while 10 from Windsor played minutes. The atmosphere inside of the Mattamy Athletic Centre was dwarfed in comparison to the electric crowd from 18 hours earlier, although screams supporting the Gaiters were still heard loud and clear from Gaiter Nation.
 
Where the low energy was most visible was the defensive end of the floor. The Lancers scored north of 20 points in each quarter while the Gaiters did so in three of the four frames.  Windsor led the entire way except for a brief period early in the first quarter.
 
Andrews (Oakville, Ont.) was a focal point for Bishop's.  He scored his 29 points on 13-for-20 shooting and 3-for-4 from the charity stripe.  The 6-foot-10 forward added eight rebounds, one block and one steal in 28 minutes of court time and was named game MVP.
 
Jona Bermillo (Montreal) added 12 points in the losing cause. 
 
Windsor got hot from behind the arc converting on 13 of 27 triples while they shot 49.3 percent overall.  The Gaiters were just 5-for-13 from three-point range but were 50 percent from the floor on the day. The Gaiters held an edge on the glass, hauling in 41 rebounds to the Lancers 31.
 
"I think it was pretty anti-climatic for both teams," said Gaiters head coach Rod Gilpin. "When you get to this time of the season and this level of competition it's tough to play without emotion and both teams did that today. I was happy with our team's push to get back in the game after falling behind in the second half"
 
Kyle Desmarais (8 points, 3 assists) (Montreal), Majid Naji (8 points) (Lunel, France), Matt McLean (5 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists) (Ottawa), Karim Sy-Morissette (2 points and 6 assists), Patrick Kabongo (2 rebounds) and Jamil Abiad (3 points) (Orleans, Ont.) rounded out the stat lines for the graduating seniors.
 
The loss ends the Bishop's Gaiters 2014-15 campaign, one that saw them earn an RSEQ Championship and return to the CIS Championship for the first time since 1999. The Gaiters may be finished at the 2015 CIS Final-8 but will remain the talk of the town for their performance and their fans in the opening round game against the powerhouse Ottawa Gee-Gees.
