Box Score 2 SHERBROOKE, Que. – The Bishop's University men's basketball team tipped off the 2016 portion of the RSEQ season falling 70-44 to the UQAM Citadins in Montreal on Thursday and 83-72 at home against UQAM on Saturday.
UQAM (4-2) topped the Gaiters (1-5) 70-44 on Thursday night in Montreal. Freshman
Abdul Kamane (Montreal) carried the load for Bishop's as he registered a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in 32 minutes. UQAM had a more balanced attack with Kewyn Blain (Saint-Leonard, Que.), Yassin Debache (Tunis, Tunisie) and Gerishe Clerjuste (Montreal) each scoring in double figures with 14, 13 and 12 points. The Gaiters struggled from the floor, shooting just 25.7% for the game (18-70) while UQAM fired at a rate 40.6% (28-69).
On Saturday night the Gaiters fell 83-72 to the Citadins after taking a ten-point lead into halftime. UQAM scored 53 points compared to Bishop's 32 points in the second half.
Jona Bermillo (Montreal) led the Gaiters with 20 points.
Nick Harvey (Saint-Bruno, Que.) had 18 points and nine rebounds. Freshman Kamane recorded his second double-double of the weekend with 12 points and 12 rebounds. For UQAM Clerjuste put up 30 points and eight rebounds in 35 minutes on the floor. Blain registered a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds.
The Gaiters are off this week but will be back in action at home on Jan. 22 against Laval (3-3) at 8 p.m. and on Jan. 23 in Quebec City at 7 p.m.
