SHERBROOKE, Que. – To kick-off the 2016 portion of RSEQ men's basketball action the Bishop's University Gaiters will play the UQAM Citadins on Jan. 7 in Montreal and Jan. 9 at home in Lennoxville. Both games are set for 8 p.m.
The Gaiters (1-3) grabbed their first win of the season before heading into the holiday break, 66-60 over the Concordia Stingers (2-2).
Nick Harvey (Saint-Bruno, Que.) had a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds in the contest.
Bishop's opened their season against the Citadins falling 79-75 on Nov. 12.
Jona Bermillo (Montreal) led the Gaiters with 25 points in the loss.
David Belanger added 18 points and seven rebounds. Kewyn Blain (Saint-Leonard, Que.) had 23 points and seven rebounds to give UQAM the win.
"UQAM played well over the holidays at the Dalhousie tournament," said Gaiters head coach
Rod Gilpin. "I'm sure they will be confident. I do like the home-and-home series especially with a young team. It means we can prepare for one opponent and concentrate on getting better ourselves."
The Gaiters open the 2016 calendar year with a home-and-home series against UQAM. They will be in Montreal on Jan. 7 and at home in Lennoxville on Jan. 9. Both games are set to tip at 8 p.m.
