Football: GAITERS HIT THE ROAD TO FACE TOP-RANKED LAVAL

THE MATCHUP: The Bishop's Gaiters hit the road for the final time in the regular season, as they head to Quebec City to take on the No. 1-ranked Laval Rouge et Or. Kickoff at Stade Telus-Université Laval is set for 1 p.m.

THE RECORDS: The Gaiters are 1-5 on the year, and have dropped their last two games, to Concordia and McGill. The Rouge et Or are 5-1 on the year, having avenged a season-opening three-point loss to Montreal with a 22-19 win at the CEPSUM last week.

OFF THE NET: There is no video coverage of the game, but audio in French is available via CHYZ Radio. For live stats, visit www.sportetudiant-stats.com/livestats/bishops/xlive.htm. Score updates will also be available on Twitter, by following @BishopsGaiters.

LAST TIME OUT: Three touchdown passes by Frédéric Paquette-Perrault led McGill to a 37-14 win over the Gaiters on Oct. 14. He accounted for all four of McGill's touchdowns. The Redmen led 23-0 at halftime, and held off a third-quarter comeback attempt by the Gaiters. Arnaud Dandin had the highlight of the day for Bishop's with a 104-yard fumble return in the third quarter, which is believed to be the longest in program history.

THE SERIES: All-time, the Gaiters are 6-27 against Laval. The teams first met in a league contest on September 2, 1996, a 22-11 win for the Gaiters at the PEPS stadium. The Gaiters have not beaten Laval since a 1-0 victory on November 3, 2001, a streak of 19 straight wins for the Rouge et Or.

WHEN LAST WE MET: Marc-Antoine Langevin had a pair of touchdown passes to lead the Rouge et Or to a 44-2 win over the Gaiters on Sept. 19, 2015 at Coulter Field. The Rouge et Or led 1-0 after the first quarter, but found the end zone twice in the second quarter to take a 16-1 halftime lead. Laval outgained Bishop's 476-207. Vincent Dube scored all the points for the Gaiters, notching singles on a missed field goal in the second quarter and a punt in the third.

PIVOT POINTS: With 300-yard performances against McGill and Concordia, rookie quarterback Jaeden Marwick became the first Gaiter quarterback to post consecutive 300-yard games since Jordan Heather had five 300-yard games in 2013. The Regina native, and 2015 Prairie Football Conference MVP, has 869 passing yards, including five touchdowns in 2016. He is leading rookie QB in the RSEQ and is fourth overall with 174 yards per game.

ORANGE CRUSH: Orange flags flying have been a familiar sight for the Gaiters this year. They are the most-penalized team in the Quebec conference, with 90 penalties for 780 yards, but have also drawn the most penalties, with their foes combining for 101 penalties for 902 yards.

THE JOY OF SACKS: With 14 sacks this season, the Gaiters are tied for third in the conference, and 10th in the country. Mickael Badra leads the Gaiters with 5 sacks, thanks to his record-setting performance against SMU. Trey Hylton has made 2.5 sacks, while the other Gaiter QB stoppers have been Etienne Morien, Keagan Hughes, Mathieu Breton, David L'Heureux, Adam Plamondon, Charles Belanger (one each) and Shayne Cowan-Cholette (0.5).

UP NEXT: The Gaiters return home for their final regular season game on Saturday, Oct. 29, as they host the Concordia Stingers. Kickoff at Coulter Field is set for 1 p.m.
