Box Score QUEBEC CITY – The Bishop's University Gaiters women's basketball team fell 72-56 to Laval on Friday night in Quebec City.
The Lady Gaiters opened strong, with an 8-0 run, but 16 points for the Rouge et Or kept the Gaiters at pace and only down three at the end of the first frame.
Laval came out shooting in the second quarter draining seven points before the Gaiters could put one away. Bishop's and Laval stayed close throughout the second with the Rouge et Or taking the two point advantage, 38-36, into halftime.
Laval took control in the third quarter, they outscored the Gaiters 22-7 and were up by 17, matching the largest led of the game, heading into the fourth quarter.
The lead was too great for Bishop's to overcome despite a strong quarter the Lady Gaiters fell 72-56 to the Rouge et Or.
Mara Marahizotti led the Gaiters with 18 points on 7-12 shooting.
Maeva Dinalle (Paris, France) had 12 points and
Edith Noblecilla (Guayaquil, Ecuador/Santo Domingo de Guzmain) had 11 points with six rebounds and nine assists in 40 minutes on the floor.
Laval was led by Sarah-Jane Marois. She had 22 points, five rebounds, eight assists and was a perfect 10-10 from the charity stripe. Laval as a team was perfect from the line.
Bishop's will host McGill (0-2) to close out the 2016 portion of the season on Nov. 26 at 2 p.m.
