GAITERS’ BADRA NAMED RSEQ DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK WITH RECORD SETTING PERFORMANCE

MONTREAL – The RSEQ released their football players of the week on Monday and Mickael Badra (Bromont, Que./Cégep de Victoriaville) of the Bishop's Gaiters was named defensive player of the week. The official RSEQ release is below.
 
Badra becomes the first Gaiter honoured this season after Bishop's earned their first win, a 30-29 nail bitter over the St. Mary's Huskies as part of 2016 homecoming festivities in Lennoxville.

James Tyrell caught 7 passes for 119 yards and a touchdown in the Concordia Stingers' hard-fought 17-11 victory over the St. Francis Xavier X-Men on Saturday afternoon in Montreal. He scored the only touchdown for the Stingers, a 25-yard strike in the first quarter.

Bishop's rookie defensive lineman Mickael Badra (Bromont, Que./Cégep de Victoriaville) set a Bishop's Gaiters record and equaled the RSEQ mark with five quarterback sacks in a single game as the Gaiters chalked up their first victory of the year on Saturday in Lennoxville.  Badra recorded a total of eight tackles including the 5.5 for losses for 38 yards.

Carabins' kicker Félix Ménard-Brière successfully completed four field goals, including one of 39 yards against Wolfville's strong winds, in a 63-1 victory of the Carabins over the Acadia University Axemen.  Ménard-Brière also shone in punts. The number 82 did a successful 61-yard punt, on top of maintaining a 47.7-yard average in 3 punts.
