Jona Bermillo (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) erupted for a season-high 26 points, but it was not enough to withstand a balanced UQAM attack, as the Bishop's Gaiters fell, 98-79, to the UQAM Citadins in RSEQ men's basketball action in Montreal, Saturday. The veteran point guard went 7-for-18 from the field, including three three-pointers, and was 9-for-12 from the free-throw line.
 
UQAM (10-11, 5-5 RSEQ) had six players in double figures, as they throughout the game. The Citadins were up 18-11 after the first quarter, 42-31 at halftime and 71-51 after three quarters.
 
For Bishop's (5-11, 2-6 RSEQ), along with Bermillo's 26, Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College ) scored 15 points, and David Belanger (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-St. Lambert) added 10. Belanger led the Gaiters with six rebounds.
 
UQAM was led by Grieshe Clerjuste, who scored 19 points, while Ibrahima Sylla had 17, Stefan Mitrovic added 13, Christian Kadima picked up 11 and Greg Rene and Rudy Caufriez chipped in with 10 points each.
 
UQAM outrebounded Bishop's 41-25, and outshot the Gaiters 45.8% to 37.9%.
 
The Gaiters return to action next week with a home-and-home against the Concordia Stingers. The first game is set for Thursday in Montreal, with the rematch Saturday at the Mitchell Gym.
