SHERBROOKE, Que – The Bishop's Gaiters men's basketball team will host the Laval Rouge et Or on Friday night in Mitchell Gym. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m.
Bishop's Breakdown:
The Gaiters (1-3) are coming off a 100-78 loss to the No. 6 McGill Redmen (3-1).
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College) led the Gaiters with 21 points and seven rebounds and
Yassin Naji (Lunel, France/Lycée Pothier Orleans) had 17 points and four rebounds. Joany Castor-Thadal added 15 points and eight rebounds. Naji was named Bishop's University Provigo, Robert Lafond Athlete of the Week for his performance.
Laval Line-up:
The Rouge et Or are 3-1 after a 88-52 win over the UQAM Citadins (0-4). Joel Mumba had 18 points and ten rebounds and Frantson
Démosthène had 21 points and seven rebounds.
Previous Match-up:
The Gaiters fell 89-74 to the Rouge et Or on Nov.17 in Quebec City. Kamane had 26 points and eight rebounds and
David Belanger (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-St. Lambert) had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Mumba had 28 points in the contest.
National Numbers:
Belanger is seventh overall in the U SPORTS standings with 9.8 rebounds per game and Kamane is fifth overall with 23.3 points per game.
