The Concordia Stingers used a big third-quarter to defeat the Bishop's Gaiters, 88-71, in Quebec university men's basketball action at the Concordia Gym in Montreal. After going into halftime tied at 33-33, the Stingers scored 33 points in the third period to take a 12-point lead on the Gaiters.
Bishop's (1-9, 1-1 RSEQ) was led by
Abdul Kamane (Montreal, Que./Vanier College), who scored 22 points on 9-for-18 shooting. The other Gaiter in double figures was
David Belanger (Sherbrooke, Que./Champlain-St. Lambert), who finished one rebound short of a double-double, as he had 15 points and nine boards.
Concordia (6-6, 1-0 RSEQ) had four players in double figures, led by Ricardo Monge's game-high 23 points. Jonathan Loud came off the bench to score 19, as the Stingers bench outscored Bishop's 40-20. Nicholas Noble and Olivier Simon each scored 10 for the hosts.
The Gaiters are back in action on Nov. 17, 2017 as they visit the Laval Rouge et Or. Tip-off in Quebec City is set for 8 p.m.
