SHERBROOKE, Que. –
Meagan Parsons (Beaconsfield, Que./John Abbott College) of the women's rugby team and
Samuel Firth (Ottawa, Ont./) of the lacrosse team are the Provigo, Robert Lafond Bishop's University Athletes of the Week for the week ending in Sept. 24.
Freshman, Firth led the Gaiters lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory over their arch rivals from McGill in a triple overtime thriller to kick off homecoming weekend on Thursday night. Firth scored six goals including the game tying goal in the late stages of the second overtime, and the game winning goal in the early stages of the sudden victory triple overtime period.
Parsons played a phenomenal game for the women's rugby team against L'Université de Montréal on Friday evening in the Gaiters 51-12 loss. She was very strong defensively and she made a lot of big runs with the ball while running through would be tacklers. She gave the Gaiters the opportunity to mount a comeback. "Meagan was a leader on the pitch and easily our best player," said head coach
Adam Spirk.
Honorable Mention:
Brock Spencer (Men's Rugby) – Had six tackles and 13 carries in the Gaiters 25-20 win over Montreal on Friday night.

Firth and the lacrosse team are next in action this coming weekend when they travel to Peterborough, Ont. to take on the Trent Excalibur at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday and then to Kingston, Ont. to take on the Queen's Gaels at 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Parsons and the women's rugby team return to the pitch on Saturday, Sept. 30 when they host the Ottawa Gee Gees on Coulter Field at 1 p.m.
